In essence, the purpose of a resin joint kit is to provide a safe and effective way of joining two LV cables together. At CCC Direct, we offer two variants – the straight resin joint kit and the branch resin joint kit.

So, how do LV resin joint kits work? The principal is straight forward. To ensure the joining of two cables and maintain the integrity of the joint in a variety of hydrological, mechanical and chemical environments, the joint between the cables is encased in a non-conducting resin bounded by a plastic sheath.
Where the joint is simple – between two cables – the plastic sheath is long and thin and is described as a ‘straight cable joint’. Where the cable branches into more than one cable, the plastic body has to accommodate the extra joint and is therefore wider at one end than the other. This is the ‘branch cable joint’.
In LV resin joint kits, the plastic body is offered complete with the mechanical connectors or butt splices required to physical secure the joint between the cable ends, depending on the size of the cables being joined. The range of cable diameters catered for is extensive, starting at just 1.5mm and ranging up to 400mm multi-core cables.
Once the cables are connected together using the connectors supplied with the kit, the two halves of the plastic sheath or casing is then clipped around the cable joint. The resin can then be injected into the sheath, which hardens around the joint, providing protection from mechanical stresses and strains, from chemical interaction with the environment and crucially, eliminating the presence of water in the joint.
